IMAP Service down briefly
Starting at around 1AM, staff began to receive reports of problems with expunging or deleting messages from inboxes on imap.eecs. This problem seems to have affected all users regardless of the choice of e-mail client, including the web client.
At approximately 2AM, the problem appeared to have degraded to the point that e-mail clients were no longer able to successfully connect to imap.eecs.
At approximately 2:20AM, service was restored.
It is not clear at this time what the cause of the outage was or whether service was restored by staff intervention or by automatic system reboot after a crash.

June 2010 Server Patching
Microsoft will release their patches for the month on Tuesday, June 8th, 2010.
PRINT, RIS and WINTERM will automatically patch and reboot Wednesday, June 9th, at 3:00 am.

Network core maintenance
I will be replacing two 10Gbit line cards in the Soda Hall core router. I will replace one card today, and one tomorrow.
We’ve already replaced similar line cards in the EECS border and Cory Hall routers without incident. The Soda router reconfiguration is slightly more complex, but due to redundant connections and routing, no discernible connectivity disruption is expected.
The vendor confirmed that the current line cards contain faulty hardware and provided replacements. The IRIS network suffered several outages due to this bug, which typically only appears after 6-9 months of operation.

Cory Wireless AP controller will be upgraded with the newer version of firmware on May 27(Thursday) at 8:00AM.
I will reboot Cory AP controller. I will schedule the wireless network downtime for about 20 mins. You may experience that the wireless network will be down for about or less 20 mins during 8:00AM-8:20AM. This upgrade will not affect wireless users in Soda, Citris or BWRC. During this time, the wired network will still work.
