Mail delivery to Exchange accounts stuck
The BWRC Ironport anti-spam appliance, which processes email for EECS Exchange server FONTUS as well as the BWRC Exchange server, started deferring new mail delivery sometime Saturday evening.
Exchange users would notice no new email in their accounts, and senders would receive a notice that their message was temporarily deferred. Mail delivery is only deferred; it should be correctly delivered once the issue is resolved.

Update to the Windows Network Install services
On Tuesday, Oct 5th, the EECS Windows Remote Installation Server will be retired, and the new EECS Windows Deployment Services server will begin service.
EECS will no longer offer installation of Windows XP over the network. XP install CD’s will still be available from the EECS help desk.
The new server will allow network installation of Windows Vista and Windows 7 for authenticated users.

Emergency 6th Floor Soda switch reboot – 5:30pm
An unkillable sshd process on the 6th floor Soda switch is causing 99% CPU utilization and preventing network managemen. The switch will be rebooted at 5:30pm. Expected disruption of both wired and wireless networking is 1-3 minutes.

A mistake was made. When new EECS CalMail
accounts was created for people that had the following
three non-alphanumeric characters in their IRIS login name,
their forwarding for their EECS CalMail account was
set incorrectly:

Any emails sent to the @EECS.Berkeley.EDU email address for IRIS login names with those three non-alphanumeric characters between 9am Thursday September 9, 2010 and when the forwarding was corrected, would have resulted in a non-delivery error message to the sender.
The forwarding for the non-alphanumeric characters EECS CalMail accounts were fixed approximately as follows:
