Department Webservice

Ending support for TLS 1 and TLS 1.1 on March 24, 2020

Following the lead of the campus, Google, and other industry leaders, IRIS will be ending support for the older security protocols TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 on the department web servers (e.g. people.eecs.berkeley.edu, www2.eecs.berkeley.edu, iris2.eecs.berkeley.edu, and any IRIS-hosted web site) on March 24, 2020. If you are using a modern web browser, you will not notice any changes.

New SSL Certificate installed for IRIS-hosted websites

The SSL certificate for people.eecs.berkeley.edu and all other IRIS-hosted websites has been renewed. The new certificate expires May 12, 2021 and has the following fingerprints:

March 2018 Linux Server Patching, Wednesday March 14 6pm

Routine Red Hat Linux operating system patches have been released which require system reboots. Starting at 6pm Wednesday, March 14 2018, IDSG will be patching and rebooting affected servers. The following services will experience brief outages of 10 minutes or less between 6pm and 7pm.

* Department mailing list services (lists.eecs.berkeley.edu)
* Department website content hosted on www2.eecs.berkeley.edu
* Department ftp server (ftp.eecs / ftp.cs.berkeley.edu)

Brief outages to various IRIS services, June 28 6pm-7pm

A few IRIS servers must be restarted to install operating system patches. This includes the [IRIS website](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/), [IRIS Mailing List server](https://lists.eecs.berkeley.edu), [Department website](http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu), and department jabber service.

Servers will be restarted starting at 6pm Tuesday June 28th. No service should be down for more than 10 minutes, and maintenance should be complete by 7pm.

Dept Web Servers, Mailing Lists, Jabber maintenence, May 11 6pm

The department’s web server [www.eecs](http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu), the IRIS website [iris.eecs](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/), the jabber server jabber.eecs and mailing list server [lists.eecs](https://lists.eecs.berkeley.edu) will be briefly unavailable May 11 beginning at 6pm to install operating system patches which require a server restart.

We expect all servers to be back in operation by 6:15pm.

EECS Website Outage due to DDoS, 4/8/16

There was a brief outage of the EECS Website this afternoon due to an apparent DDoS attack which overwhelmed the network border firewall. A temporary workaround was put in place and the website is back online.

The Department website www.eecs.berkeley.edu will be undergoing maintenance beginning Feb 3 at 8pm. Operating system patches will be installed which require a server restart. We will also be migrating department website content to the new fileserver at this time. We expect the outage to last no longer than 10 minutes.
