EECS and the rest of campus is recovering from a major computing outage that started Friday evening around 6:15pm with a fire in the campus data center. Most critical services have been restored since about 1pm Saturday, Sep 19th. Most EECS / IRIS services are back to normal since around 1pm Saturday. Some servers may not have recovered and will need a reboot, and IRIS staff will be attending to those as they are discovered. You may report any remaining outages to the IRIS Helpdesk.
A mistake was made. When new EECS CalMail
accounts was created for people that had the following
three non-alphanumeric characters in their IRIS login name,
their forwarding for their EECS CalMail account was
Any emails sent to the @EECS.Berkeley.EDU email address
for IRIS login names with those three non-alphanumeric characters
between 9am Thursday September 9, 2010 and when the forwarding
was corrected, would have resulted in a non-delivery
error message to the sender.
