Dept Web Servers, Mailing Lists, Jabber maintenence, May 11 6pm

The department’s web server [www.eecs](http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu), the IRIS website [iris.eecs](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/), the jabber server jabber.eecs and mailing list server [lists.eecs](https://lists.eecs.berkeley.edu) will be briefly unavailable May 11 beginning at 6pm to install operating system patches which require a server restart.

We expect all servers to be back in operation by 6:15pm.

May 2016 Windows Server Patching

Microsoft will release their patches for the month on Tuesday, May 10th, 2016.

PRINT, WINTERM and WDS will automatically patch and reboot Wednesday, May 11th, at 3:00 am.

WINTERM may be unavailable till 10:00 am Wednesday, May 11th, depending on additional software updates.

Web ~ (tilde) Home Pages are Moving to New Server on 5/24/16

To facilitate the move to the new Drupal department web site (coming soon!), we are changing the server for ~ (tilde) home pages from www.eecs/www.cs to homepages.eecs/homepages.cs. This will be a two-stage transition. The homepages.eecs/homepages.cs servers are up and running now. If you are concerned, you can test your ~ homepage on those hosts

e.g. http://homepages.eecs.berkeley.edu/~fraser
or http://homepages.cs.berkeley.edu/~fraser

On Tuesday, May 24, we will set up redirects on www.eecs/www.cs so that all requests for ~ home pages are sent to the new servers. These redirects will use the permanent status, which lets search engines and browsers know that the new address is the correct one and should be used going forward. This ensures that there will be no issues with search engine results.

login.EECS.Berkeley.EDU will be down for patching and needed reboot to activate changes delivered by some Oracle patches.

Though the scheduled downtime is 6:30am to 8am, we expect actual downtime to be less.

Network disruption for Sutardja Dai, Calvin, Blum Halls

Staff are investigating a network disruption affecting the Sutardja Dai wired and wireless networks, as well as the Calvin and Blum wireless networks. Other buildings are also intermittently affected.

Nameservice and NIS is also being impacted throughout the department.

print service interrupted by full disk

Print service from print.eecs was temporarily interrupted this morning, due to a full local disk. We have freed space on the disk, and will adjust our monitoring of the print server.

EECS Website Outage due to DDoS, 4/8/16

There was a brief outage of the EECS Website this afternoon due to an apparent DDoS attack which overwhelmed the network border firewall. A temporary workaround was put in place and the website is back online.

dhcp server downtime Tuesday April 5, 2016 07:00-07:30 am
