UPS Maintenance in SDH 158

At 11 AM today we will be replacing batteries and performing maintenance on a faulty UPS located in our primary server and network room for Sutardja Dai Hall. No service interruptions are expected. However, in the event of a failure, there may be a ~5 minute loss of wired and wireless networking in Sutardja Dai Hall, as well as a loss of the NetApp network file storage for the EECS Instructional Labs. The maintenance is expected to last for approximately one hour, but two have been allotted in case of complication.

Cory Hall 5th Floor Switch Failure

On Friday night, we experienced a failure of an access switch on the 5th floor of Cory Hall. This has resulted in a loss of connectivity to approximately one third of the wired devices and wireless access points on the floor. We are currently in the process of replacing the switch and should restore full connectivity by 12:30 PM.

EECS Network Scheduled Outage on Mar. 29 2014

We will be having a large scheduled outage of the EECS network in order to physically relocate some core devices as Phase Three of a project to overhaul the EECS network core. This maintenance will occur between 10AM and 6PM on Saturday, March 29, 2014. We do not anticipate the outage to last for the full eight hours, but extra time has been allotted in case of complications.

Expected impacts of this outage include:

– Internet connectivity to all EECS Wired buildings* will be offline
– Soda Hall wired and wireless networking will be entirely offline
– BWRC will be isolated from EECS and unable to access the Internet or EECS network resources
– Wireless networking in EECS Airspace** will be unavailable (the networks will continue to be visible in some locations, however the underlying network services will be offline)
– EECS Wired buildings other than Soda Hall and BWRC should retain connectivity and access to EECS network resources (filers, AD, etc.), but to reiterate, the Internet connection will be unavailable.

EECS Network Scheduled Outage on Jan. 11 2014

Scheduled network outage at BWRC on Dec. 11

Between 8 and 9 AM on December 11th, IRIS and BWRC staff will be performing scheduled maintenance to expand the BWRC server network from a /26 to a /25. The BWRC network and associated services will be down during this time, and clients onsite at BWRC will be unable to reach the IRIS and campus networks.

Brief Service Outage for AirBears and attwifi in EECS

Campus IST staff will be performing scheduled maintenance on the switches which service AirBears, AirBears 2, and attwifi on the EECS wireless network*. IST expects that this maintenance will cause a brief service interruption for these networks between 6-7AM on this Thursday, December 5th. Network outage in NanoLab

The switch in slot 2 of citsum6M81 in the NanoLab on the 6th floor of Sutardja Dai Hall has failed. As a result, some wired networking services on the 5th and 6th floors are likely impaired. Network staff are currently preparing a replacement switch and intend to have the outage resolved early this evening. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this outage.
