In the near future, we will be making some changes to the EECS department’s wireless network offerings. The largest will be centered around the current “EECS” WEP network; proposed alterations include a switch to WPA2 and a probable name change for the SSID. We are also planning the removal of the “EECS-Open” unencrypted network.
To minimize any potential impact on classes, research, and projects, we must find out who relies specifically upon the “EECS” WEP network or the “EECS-Open” unencrypted network, especially for any instructional or research purposes. If you or your group fits this description, please get in touch by sending an e-mail to help@eecs.berkeley.edu with a short description of your use case so that we can keep in touch with you about the proposed changes and ensure that they will not have any adverse affect on your project.
To avoid a mid-semester change in service, we hope to make these changes around Labor Day, so please contact us quickly if you use the “EECS” or “EECS-Open” networks.
Thank you,
EECS/IRIS Network Group
