Scheduled Maintenance for Wireless Authentication Server

November 5, 2014 by Derek Calderon

On Wednesday, November 5 at 1PM, we will be performing scheduled maintenance on the primary wireless authentication (aka RADIUS) server, etips1.eecs. The maintenance window is scheduled to end at 2PM.

EECS-Secure will not be affected during the maintenance, as the secondary server will be available to process authentication requests. However, the secondary server is currently unable to process requests for EECS-Guest, and as a result EECS-Guest will NOT be accepting new connections. Existing sessions should not be disconnected, but any new EECS-Guest sessions will fail to authenticate during the maintenance. We recommend that visitors use CalVisitor as a workaround during this time.

Please direct any questions, comments, or concerns to help@eecs.berkeley.edu.

UPDATE

[2014-11-05 13:58:25 | Derek Calderon]

The EECS-Guest outage is ongoing. Staff are working to understand the cause of the issue and will restore service as soon as possible. We encourage that you continue to use CalVisitor in the meantime.

UPDATE

[2014-11-05 16:30:50 | Derek Calderon]

All wireless services, including EECS-Guest, have been fully restored at this time. We apologize for the extended outage.
