CalVisitor Wireless Now Available in EECS

October 30, 2014 by Derek Calderon

The CalVisitor guest wireless network is now available in EECS.

UC Berkeley Students, Faculty, and Staff are strongly encouraged to continue to use AirBears2 or the IRIS wireless
networks instead of the CalVisitor guest wireless network.

CalVisitor does not use authentication or encryption and does not require host registration. CalVisitor provides access to all websites via HTTP and HTTPS (ports 80/443) and to most common VPN services. However, other services may not function. CalVisitor provides users with access to registered websites on the IRIS networks.

For more details on the CalVisitor service, please see Berkeley IST’s CalVisitor information page at https://ist.berkeley.edu/airbears/calvisitor

For a general overview of campus-provided wireless offerings (not including EECS networks), please see https://kb.berkeley.edu/page.php?id=27815

If you have any questions, concerns, or issues with CalVisitor, please send a message to help@eecs.berkeley.edu.

Thanks,

EECS/IRIS Network Group

P.S. For those who are curious, we expect to roll out eduroam within the next couple of weeks.
