Soda Aggregation Router Upgrade, 5/2/17

We will be performing a software upgrade of the Soda Hall aggregation router at 6:30 AM on Tuesday, May 2nd. Wired and wireless networks in Soda Hall will be unavailable for 5-10 minutes while the router reboots. BWRC will also be cut off from the outside world during this time as its uplink is dependent on this router.

The Millennium research network will not be affected.

This upgrade is being performed to resolve certain bugs in the current software version so that we can move forward with our early-stage IPV6 deployment, which is currently targeted for this summer.

Network interruption at EECS border

A little after 1pm today, we experienced a loss of network traffic at the EECS border. Typical network use within EECS continued to work, though it appeared we were cut off from the rest of campus, and the outside world.

Staff investigation found the problem to be at or with one of the department border firewall devices. The secondary firewall device has been made primary now, and traffic is routing properly. Staff will further examine the problem firewall device, to narrow down the specific cause.

Cory Hall networking down as of early Dec 10

At about 1:30am Saturday, monitoring software indicates that our link from Soda Hall to Cory Hall went down, resulting in all Cory Hall hosts being offline/unreachable. Staff will investigate possible hardware failures, and hope to restore service later today.

EECS-Secure and EECS-RADtest authentication in all locations (not just Cory Hall) were also affected due to a single point of failure located in Cory Hall, which is set to be rectified in January.

165 Cory Network Outage, 10/21/16

The wired network in the 165 Cory server room will be offline from 8-10AM while switches are physically relocated.

All department services have redundant copies elsewhere and will not be affected. Private systems within 165 Cory will not have network connectivity.
