UPDATE
[2017-04-28 12:41:09 | Derek Calderon]
The outage was due to a traffic flood in the routing core. The flood appeared to have been caused by a previously-identified defect in the router’s firmware, which causes the router to incorrectly forward layer 2 broadcasts under certain circumstances.
We identified the defect earlier this week and had already scheduled an upgrade for the Soda Hall router, which will occur on Tuesday 5/2 at 6:30 AM. A link to this announcement is below.

The Sutardja Dai and Cory Hall routers will be upgraded at a future date (after finals but before Summer semester). The Soda Hall router is the most critical due to its location in the network topology, and thus its upgrade was planned for ASAP, which turned out to be this coming Tuesday.
