Repo down for maintenance, March 2, 7am-9am

March 2, 2017 by IRIS Staff

[Repo.eecs](http://repo.eecs.berkeley.edu) service will be down for maintenance on March 2nd, from 7 am to 9am.

The previous attempt to update the OS was not successful and the system was reverted back to original state. There were numerous problems which caused both OS and webUI application not to work properly.

After thorough investigation, all problematic files have been identified and made ready for clean upgrade.

Fileserver maintenance

February 20, 2017 by Pathma Venasithamby

Upgrading NetaApp OS 11am-2pm on Presidents Day holiday 20th February

Department fileservice may experience some short interruptions during the maintenance window, approximately 11am until 2pm.

Many services that rely on access to department fileservice (home directories, webservice, repo service, NFS and CIFS mounts, etc) may notice some performance issues during this period.

We expect most, if not all, clients to recover automatically once work is complete. This news item will be updated to indicate when the maintenance is completed.

Systems still experiencing mount issues after the maintenance window, would need to remount or reboot.

Change to @eecs email forwarding

February 14, 2017 by Mark Kraitchman

With respect to the bMail simplification program/project

bMail continues to handle @cs and @eecs bMail aliases
and bConnected lists (Google groups).

IRIS is now handling all other @cs and @eecs email forwarding.
This includes @cs and @eecs mail forwarding for people that don’t
have a bMail account and mailing lists that are not bConnected lists.
Formerly, the CalNet owner of such a redirect could update the
destination via the CalMail “Manage Your Redirects” gui
(graphical user interface); this functionality has been
deprecated/retired. For updates to all @cs and @eecs email
forwarding, please contact the IRIS Helpdesk via help@eecs

It is more robust for @eecs (and @cs) email to
be delivered to a bMail account or a
bConnected list. For helping converting an
email address to a bMail alias or a bConnected list,
please contact the IRIS Helpdesk via help@eecs.

During the February 16, 2017 until the morning of
Monday March 13, 2017 time frame, Google was sending probable
spam to @eecs email forwarding (handled by IRIS).

At 8am Monday March 13, 2017, Google was configured to
no longer attempt to send spam to @eecs email forwarding.
When bMail receives what Google determines is probably
spam destined for @eecs email forwarding, Google sometimes
bounces the mail back to the sender as “Address not found.”
