Firmware upgrade: EECS border router
Tuesday July 14th at 7:00AM, we will be upgrading software on the EECS department border router. During the outage, all EECS networks will be disconnected from the Internet, including Soda, Cory, Sutardja Dai,BWRC, and portions of HMMB. The work should only take a few minutes, but we’re reserving a 30-minute window in case of problems.
Please plan accordingly.
VPN Service Changes
IST is replacing the campus VPN concentrator. The new system is live as of Monday, July 13th.
The old VPN service hosts a separate instance which allows access using EECS usernames and passwords. Due to low use and because it no longer provides unique functionality, IRIS has elected to end this EECS VPN service on August 12, 2009 when IST decommissions the old VPN hardware.
The new VPN requires new Cisco AnyConnect client software and you will need to login using your Calnet ID rather than EECS credentials.
In addition to adding 64-bit Windows support, the new VPN supports IPv6 transport across the tunnel.
IST has provided comprehensive documentation on the new VPN service and the client software:

Cory Router to Undergo Code Maintenance
On Tuesday July 7th at 6:30am, the main Cory Router will undergo code maintenance till 7am. This will affect ALL network activity in Cory Hall with the exception of a few hard wired ports in 2nd floor campus classrooms which are connected directly to the campus network.
If all goes well, the outage will only be for a few minutes and may not
even be noticed, but there are no guarantees.
4th Floor Soda Wireless restored.

Network Connectivity Issues
Late this afternoon, there was what appears to be a network connectivity issue on the EECS server switch that caused some intermittent outages to some EECS servers. While service appears to be restored now, staff are investigating the issue.
