Windows Vista Now Available
We now have volume-licensed versions of Windows Vista Enterprise available for installation over the network or on DVD loan from the Helpdesk. Both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) versions are available, and they include Service Pack 1.
Instructions for installing and activating Windows Vista are available from our Windows installation FAQ page. If you wish to install Vista on a machine that supports booting via the network interface (PXE), we strongly recommend doing a network install.
Redesigned Network Management Application is Live!
After [migrating the Oracle databases](/news/2323-iris-website-maintenance-5-8pm-march) that serve various IRIS applications, we put a redesigned version of the [network management application](/db/network/) into production.
The redesigned version maintains the same functionality as the previous version of the application, but sports a design that better integrates with the IRIS website and branding. We hope you’ll find it easier to read and navigate.
Feedback is always welcome, send any comments to help@eecs.
IRIS Website Maintenance, 5-8pm, March 30
The IRIS website will be unavailable Monday, March 30th from 5pm to 8pm while undergoing maintenance.
The databases used by many of the applications found on the IRIS website are being migrated to a new server, now hosted by IST. This downtime is needed to copy the data over and update our applications to use the new server.

US-CERT Conficker worm report
We have scanned EECS subnets, with supplied tools, for Conficker infected hosts with negative results. We continue to scan but users should follow the instructions from US-CERT on all Windows hosts including those at home.
US-CERT encourages users to prevent a Conficker infection by ensuring all systems have the MS08-067 patch (part of Security Update KB958644, which was published by Miscrosoft in October 2008), disabling AutoRun functionality and maintaining up-to-date anti-virus software.
