By default after April 8, 2014, devices running
Microsoft Windows XP should not be connected to the campus networks.
Running a device with an operating system past its end of life
is not compliant with the “software patch updates” standard of
the MSSND (Minimum Security Standards for Networked
Devices) at
http://security.berkeley.edu/MinStds
Please plan to upgrade or replace all devices running
Microsoft Windows XP before April 8, 2014.

In order to move towards greater support for Windows 8 in the department, SMB2 signing has been enabled on the filers. No adverse impact should be experienced, but please contact the helpdesk if your Windows mounts or CIFS shares start to act strangely.

CalMail SMTP server appears to be malfunctioning. As a result, one cannot send email via any email client or web browser. We will let you know when this issue is resolved.
