Scheduled mail downtime on December 27, 2007

December 27, 2007 by IRIS Staff

There will be a scheduled mail downtime on Dec 27, 2007 from Noon to 4PM.

This downtime is to move from the current storage hardware to the new SAN storage hardware.

Mail will be unavailable during this downtime.

All incoming mail will be deferred and queued. No mail will be lost.

As long as you are using the hostname imap.EECS.Berkeley.EDU, there will be no problems with your mail service after the mail system is back on line.

Thank you in advance for your understanding,

IDSG

December 3, 2007 by IRIS Staff

As of 10:30 this morning, I have installed a patched version of code in our firewalls. I have also disabled the TCP-SYN-CHK that can cause some applications to time out (SSH was the most common application noticed). Please send a note to networks@eecs if any unusual behavior is noted across the firewall.
