IRIS Website unavailable, April 12 6am-8am

The [IRIS website](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu), including the account and network request applications, will be offline this Sunday from 6am to 8am for database maintenance. This outage will also affect the [ACG Departmental and Administrative Web Apps](http://buffy.eecs.berkeley.edu/).

IRIS & CUSG websites unplanned outage today

A campus network problem affected numerous campus services, including CalNet / CAS authentication, the IRIS website and the CUSG website.

As of 2:30pm all IRIS services were functional again.

At this time (2:54pm) IST has not announced a root cause for the outage. Check the http://ucbsystems.org/ website for updates.

Campus network issue affecting IRIS services

Campus IST is investigating reports of network packet loss. This network issue affects IRIS services such as the IRIS website, and our network database and roster, since they depend upon IST databases and servers hosted on IST virtual machines.

IRS Website down for maintenance, Sunday Feb 22

The IRIS website (including the account and network registration forms) will be unavailable Sunday February 22 between 7:30am and 8:30am. During that time, IST will be patching the Oracle database that is used by these applications. That issue can be tracked at http://ucbsystems.org/ via CMR 3540.

IRIS website unplanned outage earlier today

The [IRIS website](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu) was unreachable Dec 29th from around 2am until around 4pm. A change in configuration was made at 2am to put move all departmental websites behind a load-balancer. A misconfiguration in the balancer was preventing SSL connections from working.

The misconfiguration has been fixed and the site is functioning normally again. My apologies for the inconvenience.

IRIS Website Maintenance, Sunday Dec 14

The [IRIS website](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/) will be unavailable from 8am to 10am on Sunday, December 14th. This includes the Roster and Network registration applications.

The Oracle database that drives our site will be down for patching during this time.

Many IRIS Services Down for Patching, 6pm Tonight

Another [OpenSSL bug was announced today](http://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20140605.txt), so many IRIS services will be briefly down for patching tonight starting at 6pm. This includes www.eecs, iris.eecs, lists.eecs, jabber.eecs, and apps.eecs. Each service will be down for a few minutes between 6pm and 7pm tonight, June 5, 2014.

IRIS website down for maintenance, May 18, 8-10am

The campus Oracle service will be patched this weekend, and so some EECS Services which depend on Oracle will be unavailable from 8am to 10am on May 18th. These include the IRIS website (including the Network and Roster applications) and ACG’s departmental applications.

Services should resume by 10am at the latest.

Retiring SSLv2 on Department Websites

The SSLv2 protocol is considered insecure, and support for it will be removed from the Department’s webservers on Friday morning, March 14, 2014.

All modern web browsers support and prefer the SSLv3 or TLSv1 protocols, which are still supported, so no impact is expected.

SSL Certificate Updates for Department Web Servers Dec 12, 6pm

New SSL certificates will be installed on the Department web server (www.eecs.berkeley.edu & www.cs.berkeley.edu), the Department Mailing List server (lists.eecs.berkeley.edu), and the IRIS web server (iris.eecs.berkeley.edu) on Dec 12 beginning at 6pm. Each server will experience an outage of a few seconds while its certificate is replaced and the server restarted.

These new certificates will be valid until December, 2016.
