There will be network outages at Soda 3rd floor (soda3b)on Thursday, Aug 2. The purpose of this maintenance is to replace some new network hardware. There will be brief network outages from 7:00AM to 8:30AM. This will affect users who use wired connection on the east side of 3rd floor.

A network switch on the 4th floor of Cory Hall had a rare occurrence of an I/O board failing today taking out 32 users. We have had only 3 or 4 board failures over the last 3 years, and there are about 150 to 200 boards in active service. The board was rapidly replaced by network personnel and the 32 users put back on line.

Hermes will be patched tonight, for the Symantec vulnerability, at 7:00 pm. Please log out beforehand.

Macserver was unexpectedly down today from approx 11:30am to 11:45am. It is back up and running, I apologize for any inconvenience.

The IRIS website, all mailing lists hosted on lists.eecs, and the EECS Jabber service will be offline on Wednesday, July 11 from 5:00p.m. to 5:30p.m.

The machines hosting these services will be undergoing some routine maintenance during this time.

On Thursday morning 7/5 (from 06:30-07:45), we will be moving some network circuits onto the new infrastructure. There will be a brief outage for the connection to BWRC (both wired and wireless) and for some wired connections on the 2nd floor and 2nd floor mezzanine (wireless will be unaffected).

On Monday and Tuesday mornings, 7/9 and 7/10 (from 06:30-07:45), more wired connections on the 2nd floor of Cory will be moved (wireless will be unaffected). There will be a brief outage for some connections during this window.

Microsoft will release their patches for the month on Tuesday, July 10th.

HERMES, PRINT, RIS and WINSWW will be down for patching Wednesday,
July 11th, from 3:00p???5:00p.

macserver.eecs.berkeley.edu, which hosts the Mac software warehouse,
will be down for maintenance at this time as well.
