Cory Hall 1F Network Outage, 10/29

October 29, 2022 by Derek Calderon

Beginning at 8:05 this morning, there is a partial wired network outage on the first floor of Cory Hall. The apparent cause is a failed switch; staff will arrive onsite this afternoon to investigate further and attempt repair.

We do not believe that wi-fi networks, or wired networks on other floors, are affected at this time.

Update 15:45: Network service was restored just prior to 3PM this afternoon. Please email help@eecs.berkeley.edu if you notice continuing network issues.

Wireless Network Maintenance, Fri. 9PM – Sat 7AM

September 2, 2022 by Derek Calderon

Between 9PM Friday 9/2 and 7AM Sat 9/3, the wireless networks for all EECS buildings (except Calvin) will be migrated to a new set of campus wireless controllers, with the aim of reducing overall load on the campus wireless networks. During this time, there will be some interruptions to wireless networks in Soda, Cory, Sutardja Dai, Jacobs, Blum, HMMB, and BWRC.

Additional work on the wireless networks is planned throughout the weekend, but that work is not expected to be disruptive.

For more details and up to date status information, please visit https://systemstatus.berkeley.edu/.

Please visit our helpdesk in 395 Cory Hall next week during business hours if you experience any new issues with the wi-fi networks after this maintenance.

Campus Wi-Fi Support for Fall Start

August 17, 2022 by Lars Rohrbach

As many return to campus for the beginning of Fall Semester, we fully expect to experience some issues with campus Wi-Fi. Campus has made many improvements to our growing Aruba Wi-Fi infrastructure, but increased traffic may reveal additional avenues for improvement. And some people will need assistance with individual devices on Wi-Fi.

Beginning next Monday, August 22, campus is increasing drop-in and phone support for Wi-Fi, for the first few weeks of the semester. Anybody with Wi-Fi issues is encouraged to call or drop-in, for quickest Wi-Fi support. An Instructor Hotline is available, and Hotspots can be requested. Please see the following page for details:

It’s important to troubleshoot any issues on a case-by-case basis, so that service can be improved for everyone.
