We have received the replacement part from our vendor for the malfunctioning module in the edge router. Installing the new part will result in reduction of bandwidth for a few minutes, but we do not expect a complete outage.

EECS Network Maintenance on Aug 4
All network connectivity to EECS may be interrupted for brief periods on the morning of Thurs, Aug 4, 2011 from 5am – 7am while we perform a firmware upgrade on the edge router. The actual outage time is expected to be at most a few minutes within the 2 hour maintenance period we have scheduled. Any concerns or questions can be sent to networks@eecs

EECS Network Outage on June 29
There was a 15 minute network outage that affected access to external and some internal resources that occurred while performing maintenance on network equipment. The configuration changes made during that time were rolled back and all services have been restored.

Network outage CITRIS May 31 between 4:30pm to 6:00pm
The citris 8810 switch with Black Diamond chassis incurred an MSM failover on May 29 around 12:51PM.
It appears that the MSM failed over due to a process crash. The process that crashed was snmpmaster process. It appears that the backup MSM was not in synch with the master which would have caused an outage as the hitless failover could not take place if the backup MSM was not in synch.
I plan to take some actions to prevent this happening again around on May 31 around 4:30pm-6:00pm . Also the firmware upgrade will be applied as well. The switch may require to reboot and it should take less than 10 mins during that time you might experience the intermittent issue. The extra time is scheduled for if there is an unexpected occurrence.

Network outage CITRIS April 24 at 13:30pm
Switches in citris will be rebooted for the new image in order to solve some SSH issues. The maintenance window will be from 13:30-16:30pm on April 24(Sunday). Event should only take less than 1 hour. Additional time is in case of issues.

Unplanned Power outage at BWRC
There was a loss of power at BWRC around 11:15am this morning. The power for the whole building is down. This will be corrected as soon as possible by PG& E. We regret this inconvenience.

Description: During this network outage, core switch sut1ds will be reloaded to address dynamic memory fragmentation, which makes the IOS software unable to allocate memory for necessary processes. The reload should complete in 15 minutes, but an hour is scheduled for any problems.
During this time, the network will not be able to access. It will affect EECS wireless Airbears in EECS including Sutardja, Cory, HMMB, and also soda hall. It will affect wired connections in Sutardja Dai Hall and some area of cory hall in the gen assign classrooms.

Machine Room Power Maintenance
We are not expecting any outages or impact to the network gear as we do have redundant power or switch services so users should not be aware of the outage. However, this notification is just in case of something unexpected. Unfortunately, we are not able to accomplish this work outside of normal business hours.
