We’ll be applying some updates to the underlying application that is used by the IRIS website beginning at 11:00p.m. on March 31, 2008.
We’ll be enabling some new features and streamlining the news a bit, so look for a post detailing the changes once we’re done.
If there is any actual downtime, it will be brief, though we don’t expect to incur any.

Currently, the portions of the site written in Ruby are being served using fcgid, which isn’t the most stable option. The switch to Mongrel will bring more stability to the site and be faster to boot!

The IRIS website server (iris.eecs.berkeley.edu) was rebooted at around 11:40am today, due to unforseen complications arising from the emergency network outage at 10:40am. Immediately prior to the reboot, you may have been unable to log in to network or roster database applications, and experienced a general slowness problem. IRIS staff apologizes for inconvenience.
