There will be brief wireless network outages on Soda 5th-7th floor at 12:30AM-12:40PM while we reboot network hardware.

This will affect users who use WIRELESS connection on 5th-7th floor of Soda.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause. Please make your plans accordingly.

Microsoft will release their patches for the month on Tuesday, Dec 12th.

HERMES, PRINT, RIS and WINSWW will be down for patching Wednesday,
Dec 13, from 3:00p¿5:00p.

macserver.eecs.berkeley.edu, which hosts the Mac software warehouse,
will be down for maintenance at this time as well.

imap.eecs, the EECS IMAP mailserver, unexpectedly went offline this afternoon shortly after 1:30pm. Staff are investigating the matter, but were unable to rectify the situation remotely, and will need to handle it at the console.

Mail service is expected to resume as normal, with no loss of email, sometime later this evening.

The IRIS website (https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu) will be offline from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 as the server hosting it will be undergoing maintenance.

The IRIS roster and network forms will be unavailable during this time as well.

The Berkeley Wireless Research Center (BWRC) was offline as of about 6:55am this morning, due to a power failure.

As of 9:25am, it appears that service has been restored.

On the 17th, wireless service on the 3rd and 5th floors of Cory Hall will have a momentary outage between 8:30 and 9 AM. After the outage, your programs using TCP connections (remote desktop, secure shell, etc.) will need to be restarted.

The two hours yesterday was not sufficient time to complete patching and
software installation for HERMES. HERMES will again be unavailable
today, Thurs. Nov. 16th from 3:00 – 5:00, to complete patching. Please
be prepared.

On Nov 7 from 05:00-05:30AM, the following EECS wireless network services will be down for maintenance:

EECS-11a WLAN
Guest WLAN

Users may need to re-authenticate to these wireless networks.

The purpose of the maintenance is that the authentication server for these WLANs will need to be upgraded to the latest code in order to fix a major security vulnerability.

There was a CIFS failure with Coeus and Project domains earlier today, preventing people from accessing their home directories. Some may have interpreted this as a network problem. These issues appear to have been resolved now.
