We will be performing firmware upgrades on the EECS core routers at 3AM on the mornings of Saturday 8/31, Sunday 9/1, and Monday 9/2 (Labor Day weekend). Each outage is expected to last under 20 minutes; however a full hour has been scheduled in case of unanticipated issues. Specific times and expected impact for each maintenance window is below.
These upgrades were completed successfully as of Monday 9/2 at 4AM.
Sat. 8/31 3 – 4 AM: Soda Hall Core Upgrade: complete
During this time, the following network outages are expected:
* Cory, Sutardja Dai, and Blum Halls plus Calvin Lab will be cut off from Soda Hall, campus, and the Internet; traffic within and between these buildings will continue uninterrupted. (Although DHCP and DNS service will be affected).
* Jacobs Hall and BWRC will be completely isolated and will have no connectivity outside their buildings.
* Soda Hall will have no routing service; most networks will be isolated and unable to reach other networks.
* Research aka Millennium networks will not be able to reach any EECS networks, but will retain connectivity to campus and the Internet.
Sun. 9/1 3 – 4 AM: Cory Hall Core Router Upgrade: complete
During this time, the following outages are expected:
* Cory Hall will have no routing service; most networks will be isolated and unable to reach other networks.
Mon. 9/2 3 – 4 AM: Sutardja Dai Hall Core Router Upgrade: complete
During this time, the following outages are expected:
* Sutardja Dai and Blum Halls plus Calvin Lab will have no routing service; most networks will be isolated and unable to reach other networks.
