With the ending of Microsoft support for Server 2008, we are moving a new version of print.eecs into production, running Server 2016, effective Wednesday morning, January 15, 2020.
All print queues have been migrated to the new print server, and lpd service as well, so existing print clients should not need any configuration changes, and should just be able to keep printing as expected.
If you do have any problems with printing via print.eecs, please report them to help@eecs, and we’ll attempt to fix them as soon as possible.
UPDATE
[2020-01-15 8:00am| larsrohr ]
Some print queues, including lws384, are being re-imported to the new print server.
UPDATE
[2020-01-15 9:00am| larsrohr ]
The following print queues were not fully created on the new server during initial import:
- lwc377, lwc391, lwc397c, lwc406h, lwc420tc, lwc490c
- lws381, lws384, lws384_simplex, lws389, lws673, lws682, lws695, lws730, lws730_simplex, lws741, lws771
As a temporary measure, while we re-create the queues on the new print.eecs, you may still access these print queues using the old print server, which is currently up as “print2”, e.g.: \\print2\lws384
UPDATE
[2020-01-15 11:45pm | larsrohr ]
The missing print queues have been re-created on the new print.eecs, and all print service should be restored. Please notify help@eecs if you have any trouble with your print queue. The old print server will be powered off early next week.
