Fiber Optic Cutover

August 25, 2009 by IRIS Staff

Tuesday morning at 6:00 am, we are working with IST to move a number of optical circuits in Soda Hall to a different fiber cable. This work is to facilitate the move of IST network equipment from Evans to Sutardja Dai Hall. Because our routers are configured with redundant paths, only the following areas will experience a brief outage, hopefully only a minute or so each.

* DETER
* Cory General Classrooms
* EECS BID Center in HMMB
* BWRC

UPDATE

[2009-08-25 08:54:53 | Mike Howard]

The primary EECS and Millennium connections were moved to a different fiber optic cable successfully. We had difficulty establishing link for the BID center connection in HMMB and have reverted that connection to the original cable. The BWRC move was postponed due to logistics associated with the WAN link.
