Network trouble

October 19, 2007 by IRIS Staff

We are experiencing problems with the network at or near the EECS border; IDSG is working to correct them. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.

UPDATE

[2007-10-19 11:51:21 | Fred A Archibald]

EECS network outage resolved as of approx 10:10AM.

Since last night and continuing today, we experienced a loss of connectivity outside of EECS. The reason for the outage was due to a combination of DOS attacks over ssh coupled with a setting on the department firewall that caused the sessions to build up over time and not time out. The ssh session time is now set to 2 hours. I regret the inconvenience this may have caused.

Resolved as of 2007-10-19 10:10:00
