Web and mailing list server patching, Apr 10 at 7am

April 10, 2013 by Rob McNicholas

The department’s web server (www.eecs, www.cs), mailing list server (lists.eecs), wiki server (wiki.eecs), application server (apps.eecs) and jabber server (jabber.eecs) will be restarted Wednesday, April 10 at 7am.

On Tuesday evening these servers will have operating system patches installed which require a restart. They will be restarted automatically at 7am Wednesday morning and should be back in service by 7:15am.

These servers will now be patched (and rebooted if necessary) on the morning following first Tuesday of each month, the same schedule as our Windows servers.

UPDATE

[2013-04-10 09:42:35 | Robert McNicholas]

The scheduled maintenance has been completed. The jabber server rebooted late (around 9am) and the service did not correctly autostart due to a firewall misconfiguration which has been fixed. Service resumed around 9:27am.
