DNS Resolution Issues, 8/31/21

August 31, 2021 by Derek Calderon

We are currently seeing an issue where eecs.berkeley.edu, cs.berkeley.edu, banatao.berkeley.edu, and possibly other related DNS names are not resolvable from campus networks or from the Internet. As a result, many websites appear down and emails may bounce.

We have contacted IST, who operate the DNS servers that answer these requests from non-EECS networks, and they are investigating.

Name resolution from EECS networks using EECS DNS resolvers is working properly.

UPDATE

[2021-08-31 | larsrohr ]

Campus DNS Administrators applied a hotfix to campus DNS servers this evening, and it appears that DNS resolution of eecs.berkeley.edu, cs.berkeley.edu, and banatao.berkeley.edu hosts is once again working from non-EECS networks.

Resolved as of 2021-08-31 8:45pm
