Extreme Slowness for some EECS Services

Our VMWare infrastructure is undergoing a RAID reconstruction, and a number of EECS services are being impacted by this, resulting in such slowness that some services are inaccessible.

Impacted servers and services may include:

  • winterm.eecs
  • repo.eecs
  • http://cusg.eecs.berkeley.edu
  • gateway.eecs

We apologize for the interruption of service, and are working to restore all services to normal levels.


UPDATE

[2019-09-11 11pm | Lars Rohrbach]

The RAID reconstruction itself was not causing a significant degradation of service, until early this morning when virtual machine backups took place. Staff have cleared up some hung processes and performed snapshot consolidation, and most service has returned to normal. We will consider this issue fully resolved when the RAID reconstruction completes, which is expected to be late Thursday.
