EECS Mailing List Server down

The Department’s Mailing List server lists.eecs.berkeley.edu is down. The mailing list software crashed around 12:50pm, and the server is currently being restarted We expect it to be back by 1:15pm.

IRIS Network and Roster applications down Sunday Nov 13 9am-10:30am

The IRIS Network and Roster applications will be unavailable Sunday November 3 between 9am and 10:30am for system maintenance. The Oracle database behind these applications is having quarterly patches applied.

Brief outages to various IRIS services, Nov 10, 6pm-7pm

Routine RedHat Linux operating system patches have been released which require system reboots. Starting at 6pm Thursday, Nov 10, IDSG will be patching and rebooting affected servers. The following services will experience brief outages of 10 minutes or less between 6pm and 7pm.

* Personal and Project web services (people.eecs, apps.eecs, and all IRIS-hosted project websites)
* Department mailing list services (lists.eecs.berkeley.edu)
* Department wiki service (wiki.eecs.berkeley.edu)
* Department ftp server (ftp.eecs / ftp.cs.berkeley.edu)
* Department jabber/xmpp service (jabber.eecs.berkeley.edu)
* IRIS website (iris.eecs.berkeley.edu)

Brief outages to various IRIS services, June 28 6pm-7pm

A few IRIS servers must be restarted to install operating system patches. This includes the [IRIS website](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/), [IRIS Mailing List server](https://lists.eecs.berkeley.edu), [Department website](http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu), and department jabber service.

Servers will be restarted starting at 6pm Tuesday June 28th. No service should be down for more than 10 minutes, and maintenance should be complete by 7pm.

lists.eecs mailing list server misbehaving

The Department’s mailing list server lists.eecs.berkeley.edu has been experiencing occasional delays in sending messages. Some outgoing messages have been delayed by as much as 40 minutes. As part of the debugging process we are patching and rebooting the server around 10:40am.

Staff are investigating the problem and will post updates here as we learn more.

IRIS Website Maintenance, May 22 9-10:30am

The Oracle database used by the IRIS website will be undergoing maintenance Sunday May 22 between 9am and 10:30am. The IRIS Roster and Account applications will be unavailable during this time, as will the front page of [the IRIS website](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/)

EECS Network Disruption

Beginning at 3:07pm, several primary and redundant fiber links in the EECS network began ‘flapping’, or going up and down. The EECS networks in Cory, Soda and Sutardja-Dai Halls are experiencing connectivity problems as a result. Wireless is also affected in other locations. Staff are investigating the problem.

Dept Web Servers, Mailing Lists, Jabber maintenence, May 11 6pm

The department’s web server [www.eecs](http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu), the IRIS website [iris.eecs](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/), the jabber server jabber.eecs and mailing list server [lists.eecs](https://lists.eecs.berkeley.edu) will be briefly unavailable May 11 beginning at 6pm to install operating system patches which require a server restart.

We expect all servers to be back in operation by 6:15pm.
