Network & Infrastructure Failure

May 21, 2009 by IRIS Staff

There was a software failure of the switch that serves many EECS services in Soda Hall this evening. That switch was rebooted restoring network connectivity to those servers but there was also a separate fiber channel failure involving home.eecs and project.eecs which both crashed. Work is ongoing to restore those services.

UPDATE

[2009-05-22 01:05:12 | Mike Howard]

Project.eecs is operational. home.eecs is still unavailable. IMAP service has also been disrupted by SAN related problems.

UPDATE

[2009-05-22 02:58:41 | Vadim Kogan]

All services should be operating normally again, including Home, Project, IMAP, various networking services, and login servers. IDSG will be working tomorrow (today?) to identify the cause of the failures.
