IMAP server misbehaving

January 2, 2009 by Rob McNicholas

The department’s IMAP server, imap.eecs.berkeley.edu, is currently experiencing some problems. Symptoms include timeouts when opening folders, and delays accepting new email. Staff are working on the problem, but there is no uptime estimate yet. Updates will be posted on the [IRIS Website](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu) as they are available.

UPDATE

[2009-01-03 22:03:40 | Michael G Bordua]

Due to some problems with the ZFS filesystem on the imap server, we are currently moving the mail spool to a UFS filesystem.

This should not cause disruptions in mail service. As users are moved to the new filesystem, the service should return to normal.

Thanks for your patience during this disruption in service.

UPDATE

[2009-01-08 12:57:36 | Mike Bordua]

All users have been moved to UFS filesystems.

This should resolve the problems that were caused by the ZFS filesystem.

There should be no more slowdowns, timeouts, etc. related to this issue.

Please report any problems to Help

Resolved as of 2009-01-08 12:53:00
