IRIS Website Offline Tonight for Server Migration

February 6, 2008 by IRIS Staff

The IRIS website will be offline for about 30 minutes this evening (Wed Feb 06) in order to redeploy parts of the site using the [Mongrel](http://mongrel.rubyforge.org) HTTP server.

Currently, the portions of the site written in Ruby are being served using fcgid, which isn’t the most stable option. The switch to Mongrel will bring more stability to the site and be faster to boot!

UPDATE

[2008-02-06 22:52:48 | Emrys Ingersoll]

The migration to Mongrel went smoothly and the site is back up.

Though we’ve tested this new deployment setup and don’t anticipate any problems, we can’t think of everything. So if you happen to see something that looks out-of-place, please don’t hesitate to e-mail img@eecs.
