New Windows Print Server – Short down time

January 11, 2011 by IRIS Staff

On Tuesday January 11th, a new Windows Print Server will be brought into production.

print.eecs will be down from 7am – 8am.

The new server is an upgrade in OS (Windows Server 2008) and platform. All drivers are now 32/64 bit. In order to accomplish this many drivers had to be upgraded or changed.

The new server is running the Windows print-spool service and LPD for UNIX and Mac. Methods of connecting to the shared queues remain the same.

Every effort was made to copy the existing server, and its ACLs. However much had to be created by hand. If you notice an incorrect setting on your queue, please contact the IRIS helpdesk for correction.
