IMAP Service down briefly

June 14, 2010 by IRIS Staff

Starting at around 1AM, staff began to receive reports of problems with expunging or deleting messages from inboxes on imap.eecs. This problem seems to have affected all users regardless of the choice of e-mail client, including the web client.

At approximately 2AM, the problem appeared to have degraded to the point that e-mail clients were no longer able to successfully connect to imap.eecs.

At approximately 2:20AM, service was restored.

It is not clear at this time what the cause of the outage was or whether service was restored by staff intervention or by automatic system reboot after a crash.

If you continue to have problems accessing your mail via imap.eecs, please contact the [IRIS Helpdesk](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/help)
