This server is using [OpenSSH](http://openssh.org) as the SSH daemon, so if you haven’t already [converted your ssh.com ssh keys to OpenSSH keys](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/15-faq/15-software/putty.html#import_key) you’ll need to do so before they’ll work on the new server.
Since login.eecs uses the x86_64 architecture, any binaries that you run from your home directory that were compiled on Sparc will need to be recompiled to work.
This server mounts the Solaris 10 for x86 sww. You should add /usr/sfw/bin to your path (if you haven’t already) as most open-source software is available on Solaris 10 and therefore will not be on the Solaris 10 sww.
login.eecs will not mount /var/mail from mailspool.CS.Berkeley.EDU as this service will be discontinued in the near future. There will be an announcement about that soon.
The old Unix General Login Server, argus.EECS.Berkeley.EDU will be phased out at a later date. There will be an announcement about that soon as well.
UPDATE
[2009-08-10 08:33:52 | Fred A Archibald]
General login service on argus.EECS.Berkeley.EDU will end
Tuesday September 8, 2009.
Please migrate to using login.EECS.Berkeley.EDU, the new Unix general login server running Solaris 10 x86_64, before then.
