Mac Support In EECS

We are pleased to be offering Mac OSX (10.4) as a supported platform in EECS, effective 10/01/05. Due to limited staffing and resources, comprehensive support for Macs (desktops and laptops) will be limited to Mac OS 10.4 and higher only. The following is an estimated schedule for this deployment. Please direct your feedbacks and comments to me (hpc@eecs), thank you.

IRIS web site FAQ (How-To documents): available 9/30

  • add mac to EECS Windows AD domain;
  • add mac to EECS unix domain;
  • add mac to EECS and airbears wireless networks;
  • access resources from inside/outside of EECS;
  • security measures (firewall, OS);

MacSWW: available 9/30

  • EECS department site licensed software (matlab, mathematica, office 2003, virtual pc, etc.);
  • campus site licensed software (vpn, calendar, ssh, ftp, virus);

Remote installation service: ETA Dec 2005

Security scanning: ETA 2006

Helpdesk support: available 9/30
