Windows Print Server Update

September 19, 2005 by IRIS Staff

Due to the continued networking and hardware problems on PRINT, a new windows print server, PRINT2, is in the process of being built. I expect the server to be on line tomorrow.

To smooth this transition, PRINT2 will immediately begin service for queues that have been experiencing sever outages on PRINT. More announcements will be posted as the transition from PRINT to PRINT2 continues. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE

[2005-09-26 16:29:40 | Wendy Hargle, IDSG]

The transition to the new print server will take place tomorrow at 10:00 am. It will take about 10 minutes to make the change. The print server will be unavailable during that time.

I will be available to assist with any difficulties. Please send your emails to idsg@eecs.

UPDATE

[2005-09-20 20:22:31 | Wendy Hargle, IDSG Staff]

The new print server is up and running. Due to the nature of the upgrade all queues will need to be manually rebuilt on the new server. This work will take a few days. I expect to be complete on Friday and transfer fully to the new server Monday. The old print server will stay up through this transition, and there should be no scheduled outage. I can not promise regarding unscheduled outage.

Request for new print queues will be fulfilled after this work is complete. As stated below the first queues to transition will be the ones most affected by this breakdown.

Thanks for all your patience.

UPDATE

The transition to the new print server is being delayed till Tuesday. We apologize for any inconvenience.
