NVIDIA Graphics Processing Units – Recall/Repair

October 14, 2010 by IRIS Staff

NOTICE: Those who purchased Apple MacBook Pros through the department’s 2007-2008 bulk purchase may be qualified for a settlement/recall/repair from NVIDIA. Individual purchases of the above-mentioned models would also be qualified. Read about this and other laptops (Dell and HP) equipped with NVIDIA chip:

http://www.nvidiasettlement.com/index.html

For specifics about Apple MacBook Pros 2007-2008, list of symptoms, products affected, and resolutions, please read:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2377

From the NVIDIA website:
“Although your notebook computer may be an eligible model, not every notebook computer on the list of Affected Models is eligible to participate. To be eligible to file a claim, your notebook computer must contain an NVIDIA chip, it must have an eligible Serial Number and it must be experiencing one of the symptoms in the List of Identified Symptoms.”

Therefore, in order to receive anything from the settlement, you must also be experiencing specific problems stated in the lawsuit. If you find that your laptop qualifies and are interested in filing an individual claim, follow the links on the NVDIA lawsuit website given above. The claim period begins on December 20, 2010.
