Brief outages to various IRIS services, May 10, 6pm-7pm

Routine Red Hat Linux operating system patches have been released which require system reboots. Starting at 6pm Wednesday, May 10, IDSG will be patching and rebooting affected servers. The following services will experience brief outages of 10 minutes or less between 6pm and 7pm.

* Personal and Project web services (people.eecs, apps.eecs, and all IRIS-hosted project websites)
* Department mailing list services (lists.eecs.berkeley.edu)
* Department wiki service (wiki.eecs.berkeley.edu)
* Department ftp server (ftp.eecs / ftp.cs.berkeley.edu)
* Department jabber/xmpp service (jabber.eecs.berkeley.edu)
* IRIS website (iris.eecs.berkeley.edu)

IRIS website maintenance, Monday Mar 27 6pm

IRIS will be migrating our help request tracking system to a new server tonight, Monday March 27 between 6pm and 8pm. Some parts of the IRIS website will be unavailable during this time.

Specifically, the IRIS [Roster](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/db/roster/) and [Network](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/db/network) applications will not be accepting requests, as well as various forms on the [IRIS website](https://iris.eecs.berkeley.edu/forms).

Repo service maintenance outage, Feb 26 12p-3p

Storage Issues, 6pm Friday Feb 24

The Department’s fileserver is having operational issues. Staff are investigating. The Network Appliance servers for EECS Home directories, Project space and some Instructional storage have been intermittently affected. This may affect other services which depend on the storage, e.g. personal web pages.

Mailing Lists, Web Pages, FTP server brief outage, Jan 26, 6pm

The Department’s [Mailing List server](https://lists.eecs.berkeley.edu), FTP server and [personal web server](http://people.eecs.berkeley.edu) will be briefly unavailable between 6pm and 6:15pm, Thursday Jan 26. The servers must be restarted to install operating system patches.

LDAP issue affected IRIS website and other services

A network problem with one of our LDAP load balancers caused some intermittent problems with some Departmental services. This probably started overnight when a server was patched and restarted. This morning we had reports of intermittent problems with Repo, and the IRIS roster and network applications on iris.eecs. The problem has been identified and resolved for now. Around 12:10pm we had to restart the server that hosts the iris.eecs website and the Department jabber server, but all services are operational again at this time.
