RIS Server to be Upgraded

The windows remote installation server (RIS) will be upgraded on Wednesday March 19th at 6:00 a.m.

During the upgrade Windows remote installation, and ris.eecs.berkeley.edu will not be available. Total downtime shouldn’t be more than an hour and RIS service will be available by 7:00 a.m.

With this upgrade Windows remote installation has changed. Upon booting to ris.eecs.berkeley.edu you will have two choices:

1. IDSG ONLY – WDS 2. Remote Installation Services

Windows deployment services (WDS) is still under development and available only to members of the IDSG group. Remote Installation Services will take you to the familiar blue pages and install Windows.

If you accidentally run WDS, just reboot your host, no changes will have been made.

the upgrade to the windows remote install server has been completed

please excuse the delay. there was an unexpected corruption to the WDS database. uncovering the relevant error message in the event logs was time consuming.
