Appendix B: Technical Limitations

DEVICE NAMING

  • All DNS hostnames MUST begin with a letter and MUST NOT contain the underscore character “_”

DEVICE ADDRESSING

  • IRIS does NOT currently provide static IP addresses or static DNS hostnames on wireless networks.

MOBILE AND NON-MOBILE DEVICES

  • The current device registration system allows the system administrator to choose to register a device as mobile or non-mobile. The implementation differences are summarized in the following table:
