Access via mail clients such as Thunderbird or mutt is affected – those trying to access mail this way will experience login failures despite using valid logins and passwords.
Access via the webmail client at https://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/Mail is also affected. While login is successful, only the address book is available – no mail access is available.
Outgoing email via gateway.eecs.berkeley.edu is unaffected. Mail forwarding to other email services such as CalMail should still continue to work.
IRIS Staff are working to resolve this problem.
UPDATE
[2009-03-26 17:33:29 | Jon Kuroda]
The problems with IMAP access were traced to a communication problem between the IMAP and LDAP services. Part of the configuration controlling communication between these two services became corrupted and has now been restored.
This problem has been fixed. If you are still experiencing problems with access to your EECS email via IMAP, please contact the EECS Helpdesk, located in 395 Cory Hall, at x2-7777 or from an alternate email account at [help@eecs](mailto:help@eecs)
