Windows 7 activation failing

October 1, 2012 by Lars Rohrbach

Activation of new Windows 7 installs is currently failing, due to our license limit being reached. EECS Staff have already contacted campus, who has contacted SHI (the Microsoft reseller for UCB). We hope to have the limit increased soon, so activations of Windows 7 can proceed normally.

UPDATE

[2012-10-25 16:15:55 | Lars Rohrbach]

Windows 7 activations via our activatewin7.exe are working again.

While we don’t have any formal confirmation from campus/SHI/Microsoft, it appears that the limit on our Windows 7 volume license MAK (Multiple Activation Key) has been increased, as a number of recent installs were able to successfully activate today.
