Unplanned storage/email outage

Departmental storage went offline around 2:40PM affecting Home Directories, Project Storage and IMAP/E-mail service.

Service has been restored and IRIS staff are investigating further into the causes and full extent of this outage. If you are still having problems with these or other services, please contact the [IRIS Helpdesk – (formerly known as EECS Helpdesk)](mailto:help@eecs)

Today’s outage of File Service and Email was caused by a software glitch that affected the EECS Storage System which provides file services for home directories, project directories, and IMAP. The software component in question was due to be decommissioned later this month — this should prevent future occurrences of this particular problem.
