Investigating Windows mount issue with new fileserver

April 19, 2026 by Lars Rohrbach

We have reports of problems with CIFS mounts of home directories and project shares from the new NetApp fileserver. CIFS is typically used by Windows or mobile clients. Staff are investigating and will report here as we learn more.

NFS mounts (typically unix/linux) are working as expected.

UPDATE

[2026-04-20 | larsrohr ]

We determined this to be an issue of clock skew, leading to kerberos failures. With the correct time set on the new NetApp fileserver, this issue appears to be resolved.
