IRIS Website Offline for Maintenance, Oct 24

The IRIS Website and Sympa mailing lists will be offline for maintenance on Wed, Oct 24 at 10:00p.m.

The machine hosting the website and the Sympa database needs to be rebooted to apply some operating system updates. Total downtime should be no longer than 30 minutes.

E-Mail Service Delay

The email server is responding slowly, the problem occurred around 9 a.m or even earlier today. IDSG is working to solve the problem.

New WINSWW

On Tuesday Oct 23rd the EECS winsww server will be replaced with new hardware. The server will be unavailable from 6:00 am. Baring any problems, it will be available at 7:00am.

Network trouble

Network Service Outage Today

There are some errors on the switch that caused the network service outages around 2:23pm this afternoon. Staff are working with the vendor to investigate the causes.

Server Patching on Wed, 10/10, 3pm-5pm

Microsoft will release their patches for the month on Tuesday, Oct 9th, 2007.

HERMES, PRINT, RIS and WINSWW will be down for patching *Wednesday, Oct 10th*, from *3:00pm to 5:00pm*.

macserver.eecs.berkeley.edu, which hosts the Mac software warehouse, will be down for maintenance at this time as well.

We are testing out patch management solutions. PRINT, RIS and WINSWW will reboot again at *3am* on *Oct 11th*.

Matlab/Mathematica License Server Down

The EECS license server for Matlab and Mathematica licenses unexpectedly went offline at about 1:30pm. Staff are investigating.

We will post further information as it becomes available. Until the license service is restored, users will not be able to check out departmental licenses for Matlab or for Mathematica.

IRIS Website Offline for Update, 5:30pm Aug 30

The IRIS website (this very site) **will be offline briefly between 5:30p.m. and 6:30p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2007** in order to apply an update to the news publishing software.

Total downtime shouldn’t be more than 30 minutes.
