Installing printers

  1. Click Start --> Run
  2. Type “\\print” and press return.
  3. Double-click on the printer you want to use, and follow the on-screen prompts to install it on your system.

Reinstalling a print queue after print server migration

First delete the queue (i.e., select the printer in the Printers and Faxes control panel and delete it), then:

  1. Go to start/settings/printers and faxes
  2. Right click to open printers and faxes
  3. From the file pull down menu click server properties
  4. Click on the driver tab
  5. Highlight the driver you want to delete
  6. Click remove
  7. Follow the instructions above on Which printers can I print to

If the drivers are corrupt, the above may not work. To remove drivers manually:

  1. Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\W32X86
  2. Rename the folders there (usually 2 and/or 3) to something else
  3. Reboot the computer
  4. Go back to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\W32X86
  5. Delete the renamed file
  6. Then try the first procedure again.

Other printing problems

IDSG does not own or maintain any of the public or private printers. IDSG only maintains the print spool servers that can be used to set up the printers.
